Subject: Hash hit rate?

What is a reasonable hash hit rate?  My program seems to have a low hit rate.
From a new game position the hit rate is approx 7% ie 7% of probes result in a
hit.  This is surely too low!?  Does anyone have an idea of what is reasonable?

PS I'm using a 2 hash system of Clever/Simple hash replacement.  I only probe
the table once for each interigation ie I do not look at Offset+1, Offset+2 etc
