Fernando,

I believe you are taking the comment in the wrong context.  Consider your post
from a different perspective than your own.  If you raise the argument that, for
some, ELO is not a factor in the consideration of a professional chess program
then I believe you have overlooked the correct market segment for such an
individual.

If 2612 makes no difference over 2600 or anything above 1800 or 1900 is beyond
your spectrum -- why are you even in the market for such a program?  People with
such requirements and needs do not normally look at a professional package to
meet such needs.

Hence, Amir's comment about ChessMaster.  Though you took it in a negative and
derogatory manner, he is just stating the facts.  Those NOT specifically
interested in ELO but desiring a feature-rich GUI and tutor generally look at
the less expensive and widely distributed ChessMaster.  Why spend $30+ more for
something that (as you say) is beyond the necessary strength for a sparring
partner?  Those willing to pay the premium are definitely concerned with engine
improvement.
