Subject: So what program should I buy for excellent chess instruction?

Chess Mentor now says their site is closed because of "corporate restructuring"
(i.e. dissolution/bankruptcy/vanished off the planet) but they'll be back when
hell freezes over, er, I mean, the restructuring is complete. Some stores still
have copies on CD, but before I attempt to purchase one, it would be nice if
someone could suggest any superior alternatives. Chess Mentor's free demo
version looked interesting and helpful, my intention was to get the 867
comprehensive version--more money than the basic one, considerably less than the
deluxe advanced. Since I'm an intermediate player, it's too soon to go with the
real hard challenges from Silman et al like solve for mate in 20.

So I'd appreciate whatever advice you can give........
