The last time I made a comparison, the benefit was enormous; something like 70-100 Elo points, IIRC. This was a long time ago, though. Perhaps it is worth testing again. Most other authors report a much smaller improvement, and some don't find any improvement at all. Like almost everything else, it seems to depend on the program. Tord
