Certainly it was wrong if they wrote "White could have repulsed the attack and
kept the piece". After 7...Nf6 black has at least a draw.
He can draw the game after 11.Kb3 Sc6 12.Bxg4 (12.c3 is worse) Na5+ or play for
the win with 11...Qg6 12.Bxc8 Nc6.

What pulses through

7...Bd7 8.b3 is not so clear.

 In your line I think
>8......Qg4 is not as good as Qxe4+ for example.

8...Qxe4 is bad. You shouldn´t trade Qeens if you have an attack.
