There is one more thing that the operators have to do: Write down the move. Some
of the longer times are most certain due to some 'catch-up' in writing down the
moves.
During the game that doesn't cost you much time as the engines are thinking long
enough, but in the opening phase the engines play immediately. And as the clocks
are not running, there is no incentive to be efficient here.
Most players run with a 'real' TC somewhere between 80 and 84 minutes for the
game, taking 6-10 minutes of operator time.
