Subject: Mephisto Boards and 16/32-bit modules

I searched and didn't see where this topic has been covered before so I hope I
can establish full details here now...

My questions concern the Mephisto modular boards and what modules fit between
them. I had always thought the modules were compatible with all boards as long
as you had the full set of modules. But SteveB brought to my attention that this
is not the case. Can someone explain what the important differences are where
compatibility is concerned?

I know Mephisto released 4 boards in this line:

Modular
Exclusive
Munchen
Bavaria

But apparently some of these boards only accept 16-bit modules while some will
accept 32-bit modules. I understand for the Munchen boards that 32-bit
compatible ones are distinguished by an "S" marking next to the word "Munchen"
on top of the board, but what about the others? I know you could get the 32-bit
modules in Exclusive boards, but which Exclusive boards are/are not compatible?
I assume new modules such as the Senator/Magellan and the Renaissance only work
with the 32-bit boards, correct?

Bitwise regards,

Chuck
