CONSPIRACY THEORY SAYS:

The author knows Rybka's weaknesses very well. The author has released his beta
with a deliberately weak endgame. He knows the reputation of this group. He
knows that Rybka will be received with glowing reviews, that releasing it only
for a day would lead to a massive email effort to get Rybka, thus spreading the
word about the engine. He knows that posts about the deficiency of the endgame
are inevitable. In fact, they're desirable, because it means that the 1.0
Release really will be better...not just in scoring, but in analysis.

It's all a plan, and a very good one at that. ;)
