Neither.  It turned out that I had a CPU-hogging zombie process in the
background
which left almost no cycles for the engines.  I discovered this after a few
games and
had to restart the match.  Predictably, Glaurung now lost *both* of the first
two
games, as well as almost all the rest.  :-(
