Go up one level in this thread

so Fern let me ask you a question about this Rybka

i played a game just now with Rybka 32 bit freeware version against the
Res-Fruit 05..Game 15sec average per move
i used Arena 1.1

in the game Rybka could not mate RES-Fruit with a queen and a rook against the
lone king
it shuffled the queen and rook back and forth

this has been fixed in the $32 buck version??

if not.. then how can anyone even say Rybka won any games when it cannot mate?

i considered this game a draw as Rybka could not mate and the game would still
be going on until they came to bury me.

you know i am not a fancy chess computer guy..and i do not read all of the
1000's of daily posts here about Rybka but this is a little rediculous i think

but what do i know?

maybe its ok for pc programs in 2005 to not have to be able to mate?

i am trying to think when the last time a dedicated computer could not mate with
a Queen and a Rook vs lone K

I think it was 1978 Chess Challenger 3

going right back to dedicated as quick as i can regards
Steve
