I understand your point of view and in a way agree. I check here every couple of days now instead of every 6 or so hours ;). Guess the big question is, what do you think it'll take to spark interest in development again? For me I've been working off/on my own engine, with little to no advances (school, work, girlfriend and Go a big distraction). I love chess and programming, but it does burn me out after a while. Guess we need something that can really change things. One reason I fell in love with chess programming is how well it can be parallized (open to commentary on that). My design from day one was to write something that could run on a cluster. The basic design algorithms that I've read seem to be the same for almost all engines. I think one of the problems with CC programming, is that to many ppl want to make something that has the most nps and win in tournaments. So they're stuck using the normal algorithms because the are proven to be effective. For me I'd rather have something that's weaker but more interesting to play. Besides unless you're a GM you're not going to win anyway with todays systems. You will be missed, I have enjoyed your posts as well. Good luck to you in your future. -Josh
