Subject: Glaurung 1.0.2 - for the not so serious chess player

Hi all,

There is now a new version of my chess engine Glaurung on my home page:

http://www.glaurungchess.com

Compared to the previous version (1.0.1) a bug which would cause the
program to incorrectly evaluate some positions as draws has been fixed.
This happened mainly in analysis mode. When playing games, I think the
bug is triggered so rarely that it has no impact on playing strength.
Therefore, this new version is mainly of interest for those of you who
use Glaurung as an analysis tool. Those of you who create rating lists
are adviced to use Glaurung 1.0.2 in future matches and tournaments, but
please let it keep the rating of 1.0.1. The difference in strength is
probably too small to be measured.

For those of you who are not familiar with my engine: Glaurung is a
moderately strong open source chess program. It is nowhere near the
commercial programs in strength, but it has a wild and speculative
style of play which is great fun to watch (in my very subjective
opinion, of course). Source code and binaries for Windows, Linux
and Mac OS X are available from the URL above.

Have fun!

Tord
