That remains to be proven of course.

Well, a Man-Machine match between Topalov and Rybka would of course be
fascinating, but without some kind of recognition that Rybka is best, no one
short of us computer chess geeks would even suggest such an event.

Rybka is recognized as strongest here, at other computer chess forums, at CEGT
and some other rating lists, but in fact hasn't even been released in its final
form, nor had time to even make a dent in the public perception. The only way
people may have heard about it, especially the usual GMs, is via the online
servers. I mean, suppose you are a GM playing at PlayChess, and then visit the
engine room. You notice that at least 9 in 10 of the top players are cllaed
Rybka. That may help inform you, otherwise it will take more time.

As to Hydra, well, that would only get organized if, again, Rybka achieves
enough recognition and interest for the match to be worth the cost. Plus it
would have to be shown that Hydra has something to gain. Right now, putting its
title of best chess-playing machine on the line for no reason against an unknown
is not going to happen.
