Here are my numbers, I hope someone finds them interesting: Latest Official Version- Slow Blitz WV~ 6,239 downloads. (Not including some 260 or so obvious re-downloading... that is when the same ip downloaded multiple times in an hour, once even a hundred times! grr... ) Between All Versions~ 26,500 downloads Obviously depends a lot on number of versions released. I think having an own GUI helps a bit, for people who aren't as serious about computer chess, or want a small complete program to put on their laptop, or things like that. I bet a complete program even considerably weaker than Slow Chess might be downloaded a whole lot more than Slow Chess if they targeted a mainstream audience( submitted it to shareware sites, tried to get links, and/or added some twist on the standard chess program to appeal to a more general audience.) I considered this but always wanted to improve the Slow engine and GUI more first. Maybe some day if I take up chess programming again.
