Go up one level in this thread

Playing in an OTB tournament where you meet the opponents face to face and can go out and have a few beers together at the end of the day is great fun, but marathon on-line events are just so depressing. I have thought about it today, and more or less decided that I don't want to play, or at least not to operate my program myself. Finding an operator could perhaps be an option. I would probably be able to drop in and have a look at the games occasionally, but I would be absent most of the time. The obvious disadvantage is that it would make the tournament less attractive for the other participants. It isn't fun to play a long game against a program not operated by the author. If somebody has a fast dual or quad (a quad is no better than a dual, because my search still only supports two threads) and would like to operate Glaurung, please contact me, and I will consider it. If someone has any viewpoints for or against non-author operators, please post them here. Tord
