I understand that most GM events ban program/computer participation. I wonder why. My opinion is that that the program/computer should be allowed to compete, perhaps only people get the prize money, but it would be interesting to see how the computer faired in GM events (programs compete, but not included in ranking for prize money). There will be a day when programs are like cars and a person competing against a computer (car) would not be interesting, but today it is still close (at least at the top) and interesting. I think more interest and sponsors would be involved if programs could compete in a GM event. This would also allow the GM's to get paid (normal tournament prizes) for competing. This use to be common back in the 80's, but now that the programs are strong, the programs can no longer compete. Why? Opinions? Any ideas on how to change this? Best Regards, Chris Carson
