The AMD K6-2 was a little bit faster with so-call knowledge-base programs
(Hiarcs,Rebel10b)because those` programs relies more on the amount of cache that
the cpu can support.With fast thinking programs(Fritz,nimzo99) the difference is
minimal,almost non-existant.Now the new k6-3 is probably the fastest (beside
Alpha)and the best cpu for chess programs since they have tri-level
cache(64k....256k.....and third level cache of up to 2meg).However remember that
the k6-3 is still weak in fpu if you play 3d games if you compare it to the
pentium 2 and 3.Fpu is of course irrelevant in chess programs.....
