This is a good question and one where we could really test computers. I think
some of the top programs will show REAL shortcomings in such a situation. Ever
play Fritz 5 down a line of the Kings Indian. The biggest problem for a computer
would probably be that correspondence masters are very good at tricking their
opponents into playing lines they didn't want to play. I would like to see some
money raised to see Fritz or Hiarcs play a match against one of the top CC
players, like Sanakoev, and see how far computers are from really finding the
best moves.
