I think it was Crafty 15 (bundled with Chessbase 7) that gave >+1.00 -- I'd
agree that
+.3 to +.5 was average. The assessment of "clear advantage to White" after Qxb7
comes from GM E. Gufeld's original annotation of the game, and my own analysis
was undertaken with a (similarly to yours) sceptical approach to that
assessment.
My impression is that ...Qc7 also leads to rapid advantage to White, I'd reserve
judgement about ...Nd7 (as alternatives to ...Qxa1). Rotweiler with a single t,
apologies, dog lovers. I meant Doberman, anyway.
