But he stands to make even *more* money by not playing in FIDE. If he is the WC,
he decides his *own* matches at his *own* time, for his *own* price. If you look
at the prize for the Anand match, it is **bigger** than the FIDE prize; why
would he be fool enough to compete in a highly risky knockout event where his
title may hang on a single 5 minute game, when with PCA he can negotiate with
complete control for the prize and title, stepping on people like Shirov as he
sees fit....

If you ask me, he has more pride and gall then any other chess player on earth.
The failed negotiations with his rightful challenger Shirov are enough evidence
of that. He wants a match with Anand because the name recognition is better, so
the prize fund will be *bigger* and he can pocket *more* money.

Name the saintly things they said and the contracts they broke the very next
day, and I will believe you. I challenge you to find any.

It seems Kasparov stands to gain more cash than Anand. How come you are not
outraged Kasp isn't playing for $1?

If they offer it to him why not? Would you not accept money somebody offered
you, even if you dislike them?

The only motive *Kasparov* has to play this darned WC thing is to make money.
Prestige alone would *not* do it. And of course there is *nothing* wrong with
making money if it is done legally and morally; there is nothing wrong with
negotiating the biggest prize fund possible. It is not wrong for Kasp, for
Anand, for Shirov, Kamsky, or for anyone else. I see no problem with Kamsky
coming out to try to increase his bank account. If I could do it, I would too.

And so would you.
