Good question.  This reminds me of an interesting example of such a draw,
involving a queen sacrifice.  I am not certain if this is exactly what you had
in mind, since it is still possible, though not likely, for Black to make moves
that would lose from the final position.  However, it involves a locked pawn
chain, which assures the draw with reasonable play.  Note that the player of
White here was not the late world champion, Petrosyan.

When I have Fritz look at the final position, it does not show an even
evaluation in any amount of time that I have let it run (I think about 30
minutes max.).  If I remember tonight, I will set up the position on Hiarcs 7.01
before I go to bed, and let it mull it over overnight.  I would be astonished,
pleasantly so, if it shows that the position is drawn by morning.

Even a class C player would quickly understand the drawing potential of the
Queen sacrifice on move 45, although he might miss White's try 47 h4, and the
response 48 . . . h3.  If computers, even the best ones, can understand this,
then they have obviously improved more than I think.
