the subject alone may sound ridiculous,pc programs are so strong that no table top would seem to have a chance in compitition, but think again.the mephisto montreux rated 2495 has been beating GMs since it was tested in the U.S.open in 1996,I am the proud owner of a montreux which was discontined in november of 98 for unknown reasons,I matched the montreux with fritz 5.0 in a six game game/30 match which ended in the tabletops favor 3/2. the last game a battle of beautiful computer tactics ended in a draw.vincent krum from chess life magazine is the computer analist for the magazine and a certified master for some 12 years expressed to me that he has never gone past 40 moves against this tactical monster in over fifty encounters.world computer champion several times over its no wonder it was advertised in chess life magazine as the world strongest computer. sincerely, confesor valentin.
