I addressed some of this in my written statement thing:

http://www.icdchess.com/ccc/resource/moderators/moreland.html

If someone has a problem with a moderator action, and they think that the group
needs to hear about it, the group should hear about it.

Are moderators fair targets for personal attacks? No, but I would let people
get away with more against me than against other people. I wouldn't want to
give the impression that I was killing posts because people disagreed with me.

A moderators immune to rules against making personal attacks? No.

Should you be afraid to disagree with a moderator, for fear that they won't
treat you fairly in the future? No, of course not.

The court of last resort is Steve. If the moderators mess up badly enough,
Steve will do something. He doesn't want CCC to be an embarassment to him,
since he identifies himself and his business with it.

But moderators do have a lot of control over the atmosphere of this place, and
they have a large influence over Steve's level of happiness, and hence its
chances of continued existence, so vote carefully.

I don't think that we need a formal moderator oversight process, and if someone
suggests making a committee to do this, I'm going to puke.

This addresses a moderation issue that isn't well laid out. I can tell you all
day long about how I'd do this or that, but after the election there will be an
email discussion between the three moderators and possibly Steve, the topic of
which will be the process the moderators will use to make decisions.

The answer to your question is very much tied to the result of that discussion,
which hasn't taken place yet, of course.

I think that the users should deal with the moderators as a group, and not
address their concerns to particular moderators, in an effort to try to play on
or create inter-moderator politics. If I get email from a member, that pertains
to a moderation issue, it will be forwarded to the other two moderators. I
don't know for sure that I did this every time last year, but that's how I feel
now.

If the question here is would I let someone get (in my view) crapped on by
another moderator who has a thing against them, I should hope not, but I refer
you back to what I said a couple paragraphs ago.

Will you be happy with every position I take? I doubt it. Will I treat you as
fairly as I can? Of course.
