Go up one level in this thread

Here was the original post, in total:

     Kasparov is a GOD.

He will crush Anand into a million grains of sand,
he will then put those grains (every last one of
them) into a box, and then throw a cat in it.

If you look at the top of your screen, it says "Computer-Chess Club", not
"Computer Chess Club". The hyphen was my idea. I wanted this to be a place for
discussion of computer chess, not a place where people use their computers to
discuss chess.

I think this particular post is terrible because it's not even remotely related
to computer chess, and is guaranteed to start a big long discussion of the
relative merits of Kasparov and Anand, which will probably end up involving a
lot of chest thumping and no discussion of computer chess at all. I included
the content of the post here so you could verify what I just said, since it is
important to get the interpretation of the post right.

So honestly, if it were up to me, and nobody had responded to that yet, I would
get rid of the damned thing, and send the guy some email reminding him of why
the hyphen is in the title of this place. This wouldn't have been a warning or
a yellow card or anything, but if the guy did it again a few days later I might
react differently.

If there had been some responses to it, I probably would have done what Harald
did, which was ask people to please stop.

Here is a harder one:

Kasparov and Anand signed a contract to play a
     World Championship Match in October.

Details to follow later (when I get them).

     KarinsDad :)

This is harder because it is an announcement of something that is unquestionably
important in the chess world, and isn't a troll.

Personally I couldn't care less about the human chess world championship, but
human chess is related to computer chess and there is a lot of overlap between
the two fields.

Would I have deleted this? I really really doubt it, but I wouldn't have been
too happy about the 23-response thread that followed, which included yet another
discussion of the merits of DB vs top GM's.

It's not so much that the thread is off topic as that it is an upward trend. I
really don't like that this group has the possibility of becoming a general
chess discussion board, there are a lot more general chess people than computer
chess people, and as they become more computer literate, they could end up
swamping the computer chess discussion. Some people might like this idea, but I
don't.
