Hmm.  I haven't had any terrible experiences with this happening yet.  Of
course, that's no guarantee that I won't in the future.

Not too long ago, in reply to a comment I made here, I even recieved a short
email from Sean Evans, who suggested that I not be convinced that I did not have
his vote.  I laughed when I read it... I hadn't really expected him to write me
on the subject. :-)

In terms of anonymity, while it might be nice if everybody was upfront about who
they are, let's face it: it isn't going to happen.  I'd worry more about id
verification of voters than lurkers.  In any case, it sounds completely
unrealistic to id people... how would the receiver of a fax know that some
document is not a nice cut and paste from Adobe Photoshop?  A person might
acquire several different digital signatures... I don't see a technological
solution.  Not being a moderator, I can't say how bad the status quo is for
them, but I think we're pretty much stuck with it... the consequence being that
those who aren't happy with it will just have to lump it.
