All it is is setting up the differenc personalities.  100 is always the default
for positional settings.  It'll say, for instance, Control of Center and all you
do is change 100 from 0-200... there are other options such as King Safety,
Mobility, Passed Pawns, Selective Serach settings, etc.  (all you have to know
is what Shep has these settings...

I'm not sure, but I think these are the settings he uses on CM5555:

Style Attacker/Deffender -4; Strength of play 100; Randomness of play 0; Book
depth 100; Maximal search depth 20;
          Selective search 10; Contempt for draw 0.0
  Position Material/Position 4; Control of center 100; Mobility 103; King safety
170; Passed pawns 100;
               Pawn weakness 125
  Piece values Queen 10.0; Rook 5.5; Bishop 3.5; Knight 3.3; Pawn 1.0
  Book Standard CM6000
