I have CM6000, Nimzo99, Fritz5.16, Rebel 10, and several other programs. I've used the Fritz/Nimzo interface to convert several different opening books into the Fritz CTG format. In that format, here is the file size of several different books, which may give you some idea. Nimzo 99 book, 212 MB. (208,140 games) Fritz 5 book (version that came with the original Fritz 5) 112 MB. (110,731 games) Crafty medium book. The medium book available at crafty ftp site, converted to Fritz ctg. 47.7 MB. (47,713 games) Rebel book (standard book for Rebel 10). 16.8 MB. CM 6000 opening book. 3.34 MB. The trees for the Rebel and CM books do not show number of games, probably because the book does not have complete game scores. I have also heard that CM6000 does not use any kind of book learning, but I cannot confirm this. Does anyone know for sure? Obviously, size is not equivalent to quality, and all I'm comparing here is size. However, although CM6000 is one of the strongest programs, I don't think that its opening book is its biggest selling point.
