The rest of the rounds, they use the swiss system, in which the opponents are chosen by points. IE, the player with the most points plays the player with the second-highest score, the player with the third-highest score plays the player with the 4th highest score, etc. With accelerated pairings, they assume that round one has already proceeded as predicted, and for Round 1, although nobodey has any points, the top players play each other. Sorry for the jumbled description, but this is more or less the difference. If my writing is _still_ confusing, ask Robert Hyatt to explain it, as he did a much better job with a lot fewer words.
