There's not much of a strength difference in the top programs, although they do
have different styles of play.  CM6000, Fritz 5.32, Hiarcs 5.32, Rebel, and
Junior are all within a few ELO points of each other.  Shredder is also one of
the strongest programs; however, it sells for over $100.

If you're looking for the best buy for the buck, I'd say that Crafty and Comet
would top the list.  They're available for download as freeware, and although
they aren't quite as strong as the commercial programs, they're about 2400 ELO
on fast machines.
