CM6000, Fritz 5.32, Hiarcs 5.32, Rebel, and Junior are all within a few ELO points of each other. Shredder is also one of the strongest programs; however, it sells for over $100. If you're looking for the best buy for the buck, I'd say that Crafty and Comet would top the list. They're available for download as freeware, and although they aren't quite as strong as the commercial programs, they're about 2400 ELO on fast machines.
