For a while, I archived every game played at FICS using a little perl/mysql program I wrote, and sometimes searched it for curiosities such as these. Unfortunately I lost this data, but I do remember that I had 3 serious games over 300 moves (there were several more over 300, but these were mostly 1 0 "mouse contests", where both sides play e3 and e6 and move their kings back and forth until someone flags). All three games were computer-computer battles; the longest game I had involving a human was about 270 moves. The shortest of the three (right around 300 moves) was decisive, and the other two were drawn. The longest was 350-something moves. All three games became long queen and pawn endgames after both sides promoted a pawn in what was already a long endgame of another type. These are quite rare- these three games came from a pool of nearly a million games. Todd Freitag toddmf from FICS
