For a while, I archived every game played at FICS using a little perl/mysql
program I wrote, and sometimes searched it for curiosities such as these.
Unfortunately I lost this data, but I do remember that I had 3 serious games
over 300 moves (there were several more over 300, but these were mostly 1 0
"mouse contests", where both sides play e3 and e6 and move their kings back and
forth until someone flags). All three games were computer-computer battles; the
longest game I had involving a human was about 270 moves. The shortest of the
three (right around 300 moves) was decisive, and the other two were drawn. The
longest was 350-something moves. All three games became long queen and pawn
endgames after both sides promoted a pawn in what was already a long endgame of
another type. These are quite rare- these three games came from a pool of nearly
a million games.
