Don is using MTD with lazy eval.  At least, that's part of what I read from his
post.  I don't have any numbers from him, though Don has given me some help in
the past, which was much appreciated.

If I remember correctly, Chinook (checkers), Pheonix (chess), and Keyano
(othello) were all checked with both test positions and full games.  Jonathan's
home page (under publications, then artificial intelligence) is one place to
look.
