It takes longer to generate them than it does to download them with a 56k modem from Hyatt's site. I rember the first 5 man I generated took almost 24 hours.(Yes, 1 tablebase) Forgot which one it was. The 3/4 can be generated quickly but they also can be downloaded quickly. Some 5 man tablebases take more than 512Meg ram. I believe Mr Nalimov said you can do it with less memory but disk swapping takes place and that takes even longer. My modem only downloads about 12 Meg/hour and you can figure what a 96Meg tablebase takes from that but it's still quicker than generating them. Jim Walker
