Go for some of the freeware engines. Besides Crafty you can try Rebel
Decade (can be found at http://www.rebel.nl), Rival Chess, Arasan etc.
My personal favorite at the moment (I like to win sometimes too!) is
Bringer 1.5 that you can download here:
http://members.xoom.com/VolkerPi/schach/download/bringer15.zip

Bringer 1.5 can be tough to beat but you will at least feel that you
have some chances!

Other winboard engines (and info) can be found here:
http://www.inficad.com/~ecollins/winboard.htm
http://members.xoom.com/VolkerPi/schach/
http://sun30.efe.hu/~wyx/chess/

Hope you find what you're looking for!

/Robert
