The material score I would adjust by 1 pawn for every 200 rating point difference. This would be sensitive to the efficacy of your eval, but I figure if it is down material AND it has a positional disadvantage to boot, resignation would seem appropriate. An example of the type of positions you will want your program to avoid resigning in can arise from the following endgame studies: Troitzky 1930: 8/3kP3/3br1P1/6P1/7K/8/8/7B w - - 0 0 Chekhover 1947: 7r/p3k3/2p5/1pPp4/3P4/PP4P1/3P1PB1/2K5 w - - 0 0
