It is never too late for a program to save a game. My program once played a

eventually (I guess out of frustration) he lost when he missed an amazing mate
trap!!

Moral: never resign if you don't worry about making people mad, and want to
increase your rating that extra .1 points.

In engine-engine tests, major upsets like this are so rare that I resign fairly
early to make sure that I can get a lot of games in a reasonable amount of time.
