Dean,

For training you should get a cheap PC with a copy of Hiarcs 7.32 on it.
Setting up pieces is a drag and with Hiarcs you can do branch analyses and do it
in one tenth the time it takes on a stand-alone unit.

Most of the dedicated chess units look ahead 13 to 14 ply whereas Hiarcs 7.32 on
anything over 300Mhz does 30 ply selective searches.
