I think (in the case of chess engines) that it depends on the engine you're
using.  Apparently Rebel and some others like the AMD processors.  However,
Crafty and others greatly prefer the Intel processors.  In general performance,
I think the Intel processors (if one excludes the Athlon, which is the fastest)
are quite a bit faster in floating-point operations.  The difference in integer
calculation is probably very small.
