I would buy one because it can do what I want it to do. That is chiefly why I don't own a single engine from CB (yet) because (currently) none of them has all the features that I want. Hiarcs and Rebel do. So those are the two commercial chess engines I employ. I think price, advertizing and shelf space have a lot more pull in the marketplace than SSDF ratings or WMCCC wins. Evidence: Chessmaster. More evidence: I bought a copy, even though it does not do the sort of things I want. Impulse buy. ;-)
