I was browsing through a second-hand store today and came across an old Fidelity Challenger chess computer. By the looks of it, perhaps 20 years old. All the pieces were there, it was functional, came complete with an adaptor and the price was only 3 dollars. I couldn't resist. Nostalgia, I guess, as I had one similar to that many years ago and have always regretted giving it away. Since there is no manual, I don't have much information about it though. I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about it--vintage, features, estimated playing strength etc? It is a 9 inch by 9 inch plastic housing with an 8 by 8 board. The squares have LED's, as do 8 keys which run vertically in a row along the right side of the board. The keys consist of the symbols for each of the pieces plus one that reads CLR and one that reads ENT. The pieces are wooden and magnetized and the squares and keys all are activated by pressure. There is no display window of any kind. The housing is labeled FIDELITY ELECTRONICS and CHESS CHALLENGER but no series number appears. Any clues? eric
