Some programs are better against other programs than against strong humans. They appear to have some anti-computer logic coded into their style. Although I played only a few games against Junior 5, its results against other programs, which I find tougher opponents (Hiarcs 7.32, Rebel 10b), are better than I would have guessed. I am not sure what that "anti-computer logic" is, but Junior seems to seek closed positions, which is quite unusual for the programs, so it may be that it has some additional algorithms for handling such positions. That would certainly give it an edge against most other programs. Does Tiger 12 trive in the closed positions, i.e. does it win more often against other programs in that type of positions than overall?
