If you asked twenty of these guys what machine they can get at, they'll give you a bunch of different answers, and the speed differential will probably be large. If we want to try to keep it fair, we can recommend that people run single-processor 550 mhz Pentium III or slower. That'd probably keep us all within a factor of 3-5, which isn't perfect, but it's probably reasonable. If someone is unable to get at a slower machine than that, we can discuss it. If this is adopted I would like the option of running a single-processor version on my quad 450, since that's already set up, etc. If people really want this to be an open event, I can run on all four. "uniform platform" is probably impossible. "open platform" is fine with me. "vaguely similar platform" is fine with me. bruce
