Even a 1300 player >sees well below one ply. In israel players who start to play in tournaments get 1350 elo rating and only if they lose they can get 1300 elo rating. 1300 is the minimal elo rating and they cannot get a lower rating even if they lose so I think that 1300 players often do not see 1 ply forward. They may sometimes see 2 plies forward but it does not compensate for the fact that they often do not see 1 ply. Uri
