Ed Schroeder on the Rebel site under chess 2010, seems to be saying that for a chess program (computer) to beat a computer the computer does not have to have much chess knowledge, mainly the abality to look ahead and calculate. He says that Rebel Tiger is specifically designed to beat computers. These type of programs he thinks will not do as well against GMs. On the other hand Ed will continue to develop the main Rebel program to have a lot of chess knowledge. Very interesting!!
