I have heard that doubling the speed gives a rating increase of about 60-70 Elo
points (or some such). So presumably doubling the time taken in a time control
would give about that increase in rating. There is a practical limit because
after a few hours (or days?) the calculations will "hang" in real time, i.e. it
will take too long to calculate the next ply depth to be practical.
