Visual Basic is a patented language by Microsoft and it is very restricted. One day Visual Basic will be like COBOL an old thing because Microsoft says "It is old, you have to BUY SUPER TRIVISUAL BASIC 3000". C/C++ are open languages. You will see companys that will compete in order to sell you the compiler and you surely will see better results. If I have directly to answer a yes or no, I will say it isn't useful for anything because: The only reasonable advantage I found is the easier way to design GUI, but if you want to write a nice GUI, you will need to know DIRECTX and PROBALY DIRECT3D. My opinion.
