Go up one level in this thread

Money Ruined chess along time ago. Capablanca did this with his put up a whole
heap of money if you want to play me for the world title. He was a greedy man.

Fischer also was along these lines in other matters, not just money. Then we
have the East German atheletes taking drugs and their brain washing techniques
which have just become know in their own investigations.

It is estimated with the current testing of sport people that maybe up to 80% of
sports people take performance enhancing drugs at the elite level. And being a
chemist I know that with the current level of testing many drugs can go
undetected by urine testing which is really the only thing done these days.

For instance there is some US baseball player Mark Maguire or something of the
like and Sammy Solsa, These two have broken hot hitting records. They are one of
many sports people from the US who take a drug which is legal in US sports, but
illegal to take if you go to the olympics and many other world sports.

We had a player last year banned for two years in Rugby League in Australia, a
respresntative player for his country as well for taking the same drug these two
baseball players take.

Thats why whenever we hear about these two players belting home runs, all we can
think of them as drug cheats. Lucky they will not represent the US in baseball
at the Sydney Olympic games, they would be thrown out of the games and
humiliated world wide as being drug cheats.

We need to get a standard of drug list as to what is performance enhancing and
what is not. Just to even things out. OUr former No1 Pat rafter in tennis also
takes this drug, along with just about every other tennis player in the world.
Weightlifters it is a banned substance, so to in Cycling, soccer and many
others. It is pretty pathetic actually, It should be banned all over.

Just goes to show how certain sports want better spectacles and ignore these
drug ban warnings and make it legal for their sports.
