I tested Crafty 17.04 using the Fritz 6 interface.  Perhaps the winboard version
of Crafty 17.04 would find Kb1.  I assumed both versions would play the same
move.

In any case, I tested the Chessbase version of 17.04 again using Fritz 6, this
time for 10 minutes, and it still prefers Qxg7.  It shows an evaluation of
+-1.26 at Depth 11.
