If you are curious about how it plays, try out my automated Sapphire II on FICS:

telnet freechess.org 5000
or
use one of the graphical interfaces such as WinBoard

login as a guest if you don't already have an account

match SapphireII
or
match SapphireII [minutes] [increment]

Personally, I haven't used the Sapphire much since I got a PalmIII.
PocketChess, though very much weaker, makes the Palm an ideal pocket chess
computer.

If you are up to it, the Sapphire can help you learn visualization if you play
without a board. I would also recommend looking for a better travel board; the
included one isn't very convenient.

At about $200 US, it gives a lot of bang for the buck, even compared to standard
dedicated chess computers.
