This is not so amazing.... There are many positions where a KNN vs. a kp are winning. The idea is that when the weaker side has to move the pawn, one can make progress with the knights. I recall FIDE even extending the 50-move rule to allow for this situation even giving a graph of where the pawn had to be behind... So you see, this is not that amazing :)
