It is actually a pretty interesting conjecture. I think that the great skill some micro programs play at, considering the enormous hardware disadvantage compared to DB and other supercomputer efforts, shows that they have some really good things going for them. But the DB team can surely teach concepts going back in the other direction. I am fairly certain that a hybrid concept, using all of the best techniques used by all chess programmers would be much better. But if a frog had wings, he wouldn't scrape his butt on the rocks.
